Tucson is getting a sneak peak at a new film, entitled People v. The State of Illusion, that will be released nationwide by a prominent national Hollywood film distributor in March.  The movie, written and produced by Austin Vickers, opened in Phoenix on September 9, 2011, where it played to sold out audiences and was the #1 Independent Film in Arizona for over 6 weeks.  Set in the notorious “Old Main Prison” of the New Mexico State Penitentiary, it tells the story of Aaron Roberts and explores the science and power of perception and imagination and documents the evidence that answers the central questions of this provocative film, “what is real?” and “can people really change?” Featured in the film are 8 leading thinkers in the fields of neuroscience, biochemistry, psychology, and quantum physics. Over the last few weeks, I’ve witnessed several events – many of which were in my own life – that, if allowed to, would emotionally cripple anyone.

How, then, can someone stay level-headed (even upbeat) while the world “falls down” around them?  More than that, how can someone move into success under these circumstances?

That’s what this coaching note is about.  …and the next one.  (The next email you receive from me will be an invitation to literally deconstruct unconscious attachments with the negative aspects of your life and reconstruct a positive, healthy self-image in a breakthrough two-day program that Mark from Industria, Inc. and I are pioneering.)

So back to today’s message…  Let me lay some ground work.   We must assume the following truths:
1. The Universe is created to be good and giving in its natural operation.
2. If left to its natural course, the Universe would ensure that your life continued to expand, express, and grow because your Spirit is inclined that way.
3. It’s only because of the limitations we’ve invented or accepted that we experience lack, limitation, and any other negativity in our lives.

If these three things are true – and they are – the only thing I really have to do to allow good into my life… is allow.

Yes.  Allow.

What about surrounding myself with positive influences?

What about visualizing?

These things (and things like them) are valid and necessary, but understand this: these activities can have the opposite effect if your current belief system (in lack) is too strong.  If there’s an undertone of doubt, sarcasm, or anything else along those lines, then all the good visualization energy in the world will not be very effective.

Let me come at this from another angle.  In physics we know that “energy attracts like energy”.  I even addressed this fact in an earlier email when I said the following:
“The Universe was created as a response mechanism for us.  …  It operates by Law.  …  One of these Laws is the Law of Attraction.  An easy way to state the Law of Attraction is: “energy attracts like energy”.  Not good energy, not bad energy, but like energy.  ..and that source, attracting energy to which the Universe responds is from our feelings.”

Remember, it’s your feelings (read: subconscious) which allow or disallow (read: action) in your life.  All the logic in the world isn’t very effective with feelings – in the assertive.  You know this to be true every time you try to “assert” yourself in an argument.  You believe one thing – the other person believes another – you assert yourself – …and how far do you get?

You see, when you were young, someone in authority simply had to suggest or assert something and you believed it.  However, after you began to reason, that function “turned off”.  Assertion was no longer good enough – you had to know “why”.

Why, why, why…  We hear that from children incessantly and for good reason – they’re beginning to reason.  How then are we influenced when we no longer “accept external programming” from assertions.  Simple – every good coach knows… ask questions!  Asking questions is the fastest, most effective, permanent way to deconstruct beliefs and let go in order to move on.

…and now we come to the magic.  The following four questions are literally able to pierce through whatever emotion you may be holding to (negative or positive) and allow you to release it.  This is only a small part of the Sedona Method ™, a trademarked process which I highly recommend and you can link straight to it in a hardcopy, Kindle edition, or audio program from HERE.  (It’s so effective, I’ve made it the core of my own practices.)

An emotion is an object, like a pen. In the same way you release a pen from you hand to the table, you can release emotions. The emotion still exists, but is no longer “held on to”.  If the emotion (blocking your “good” from coming to you) is now free from you, your ability to receive – even without consciously visualizing – is greatly magnified.

1. What am I holding on to right now?  (pain, jelousy, victimhood, anger, releif, happiness, worry)
2. Could I let this go?  (Yes. It’s an object after all.)
3. Would I let this go?  (Yes. It’s poisoning you after all and you’re not the type to just accept the worst in life.)
4. When would I let this go?  (Hopefully, now.)

The process your mind goes through to pull up the problem, address it, and let it go (now) quite literally dissipates the situation within you.  Like the pen on the table, the circumstance exists, but it’s no longer a part of you.  This allows you to move forward in growth and receivership.  I cannot stress enough the importance of what you will experience by going through these questions.  So just go through them.  Whether you believe they can be effective or not, just go through them.

Listen, your birthright is greatness, success, growth, advancement, and fulfillment.  The fact that you exist means you were meant to experience the best of life.

Go forward!  Claim your birthright!

High Holy Day 2010 Speech – Think and Grow Rich, by Mark Ross, Congregation President.

   L’Shanah Tova. On behalf of Congregation Or Chadash, it’s my pleasure to welcome our congregants, their families and all of our guests here today. I want to thank Rabbi Louchheim, Cantor Cohen and all of our volunteers and professional staff for the numerous hours of work it took to prepare us for these High Holy days.L’Shana Tovah – may you all enjoy a healthy, safe, and happy new year.

   In the 1989 movie “Field of Dreams”, character Ray Kinsella, played by Kevin Costner, heard the voice of Shoeless Joe Jackson say, “if you build it, he will come”, which is often misquoted as, “if you build it, they will come”. But no matter how you interpret the words, the message is clear. Everything that has ever been built is a result of someone’s imagination, vision or idea.

   I recently completed a class that studied the 1937 Napoleon Hill book, “Think and Grow Rich”. For over 30 years, he analyzed hundreds of well-known individuals, some of the wealthiest and most successful and powerful people of that era; people like Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, F.W. Woolworth, Alexander Graham Bell, several Presidents, and many others, to find what it was that made them successful. The book focuses on how to achieve more in life… to gain riches. Riches is used in the broadest sense to include not only material and financial success, but mental and spiritual as well. And the starting point of the path that leads to success… is desire.

   Once we acknowledge a desire for something, a number of events start to take place. First, we focus on the goal. What do we want? How do we achieve it? What has to happen for us to succeed? We start to imagine what succeeding in our goal will look and feel like, what benefits it will give us, and how it will bring value to our lives.

    The method by which desire is transmuted into reality consists of some definite actions:

   •   we fix in our mind the exact thing we desire
   •   we decide what we have to give up to achieve it – time, money, effort, etc.
   •   we pick a date by which we will achieve our goal
   •   we create a definite plan for carrying out the goal
   •   and, we write it all out in a clear, concise statement… the timetable, actions and sacrifices we have to make towards achieving our plan

   Determination kicks in as we start on the path and we gather our resources together towards achieving our goal. And though this process, we start to have faith that we’ll succeed. We build a vision of what it will be like when we achieve the goal. And, we start to believe it is attainable. Day by day, month by month, we start to foresee what we’ll have, how we’ll appreciate it when it’s here, and what a sense of satisfaction we’ll feel once we’ve achieved our goal.

   The more we restate our goal and its path to success, the more we convince ourselves that it’s realistic and possible… we use autosuggestion as the vehicle to continually repeat the goal to ourselves. And by communicating this to others, it reinforces our own commitment to success, as well as reinforcing in others this reality of our goal. Just as I am sharing these concepts with you today, I’m also reinforcing them in my own belief system.

   But before we’ve ever envisioned the goal, we had to have the imagination to see it in its final state. All successes, growth and advancement must come as a result of imagination. Imagination without action is… just a good idea.

   Once we have the imagination to envision what we want to see, we then make a DECISION, and persist with the vision. We show ourselves and others that definiteness of purpose can succeed.

   We know the steps that Napoleon Hill outlined ARE real… just consider those 12 families in 1995 that envisioned a new synagogue. And here we are 15 years later, a congregation of well over 340 families, a vibrant religious school and our own property.

   A group of dedicated congregants believed that building a religious school and sanctuary on our property was not only possible, but a realistic vision. They ignored those that were fearful, critical, overly-cautious, doubters or negative thinkers, and proceeded with a plan. With that image in mind, they started a campaign to build a permanent home on our campus that we could utilize for religious school activities, Shabbat services, B’nei Mitzvah’s, weddings, celebrations and more.

   Their desire, focus, imagination, decision, determination, and definiteness of purpose so eloquently expressed by Napoleon Hill is evidence that we CAN accomplish what we envision. And now, we’re taking steps towards furthering those goals through the efforts of several congregants that are committed to fulfilling that expectation. Through persistence over the last few months, this picture is starting to take shape, and we anticipate more successes in the near future.

   The Hebrew word for “intention” or “determination to pursue a purpose” is “Kavannah”. Literally, it means “direction”. Kavannah is what turns us inward to understand our desires and listen to them. It is what helps us to take the next step… to give up something to get something in return, or to learn a new skill. In order to achieve our goal, Kavannah is most often used in terms of turning our hearts towards God in prayer, but it also allows us to focus on those broader issues as well.

   So it seems we have a Hebrew word for those key elements that Napoleon Hill espoused. But how do we get from intention and Kavannah, to action? Faith or belief in ourselves, others, and in God, encourages us to take those steps in order to achieve our goal.

   One of the joys I have with this synagogue is the music. I imagined that adding the clarinet during a service may fulfill a desire I have to participate in a meaningful way. So, that’s what brought me into the fold and that’s what gives me the greatest joy while participating with great musicians and singers. For me, it’s the music that makes my experience so spiritual here.

   Look inwardly and determine what drew YOU to Or Chadash. What is it that you love about our synagogue? Our Rabbi? Cantor?, the religious school?, educational opportunities?, life events?, celebrations? Or is it something else? But whatever your reason for being with us, it’s because of the vision that others had in the past that you are now able to experience those pleasures today.

   Can you build your own vision, or create an intention around what brought you to Or Chadash, and get more involved? The more you put in, the more you will get out, and the closer you’ll be to achieving YOUR vision of what our congregation should look like.

   May the vision you have of Congregation Or Chadash be fulfilled and may your message be heard.

As it turns out, most everyone is deficient in one of two hormones: testosterone or seratonin.  The first keeps us active and awake during the day and the second ensures we sleep well at night.  Of course, if they’re imbalanced, we’ll hit a 2:00 wall and take energy drinks which keeps us awake until night, when we can’t sleep!  It’s a vicious cycle we’re all-too familiar with.

The long of it:
